Medication Abortion Information & Referrals

Support for medication abortion

If a student becomes pregnant, we provide options for counseling and referrals at the Jamestown Community College Health Centers.

On May 2, 2023, legislation was signed in New York State (A1295-C/S1213-B) that requires all public colleges and universities in the SUNY and CUNY systems to offer access to medication abortion. The law requires that every SUNY and CUNY campus provide access to abortion medication to their student body either by:

  • employing or contracting with authorized individuals who may prescribe abortion prescription drugs, or
  • providing students with information and referrals to providers authorized to prescribe abortion medication.

Jamestown Community College does not provide medication or procedural termination of pregnancy care on campuses currently. The Health Center website will maintain a list of community agencies and providers authorized to prescribe abortion medication. For students who choose to terminate a pregnancy or desire to continue a pregnancy, we offer referrals at local clinics. The Health Centers will continue coordinating care for any student interested in receiving services.
